Group Co-ordinators and Committee members are all volunteers and more are always welcome.
We encourage all groups to have at least one Co-ordinator but this is especially recommended for our larger groups and some have 3, 4 or more members working as a team. If you can spare a little time and would like to know more about how you can take part then please contact the Group Co-ordinator of the group that interests you or the Groups Facilitator on the Committee from the Contacts page.

Please note that whilst some interest groups are free others levy a small charge to cover the hire of meeting rooms and/or speakers. Events that require transport or where there is an entrance fee are paid by the member as well as personal expenditure such as refreshments. Please take a look at our groups pages for more information about them.

New u3a Members
New members can attend one group session to try it out before joining the group but this is at the discretion of the Group Co-ordinator.

Reminder to members that putting your name down for any chargeable event or activity is a commitment to pay for it.

How can I start a new group?
Groups are run for the members by the members; we are all volunteers. Groups can be run by one person, by a group of friends, or by a team. u3a is about sharing and members are encouraged to take an active part in the running of their respective groups where possible. You don't have to be an expert, just an enthusiastic member. If you have an interest that you would like to share with others, even just two or three others, then it's easy to start a new group.
