Usually we meet at Olivers Nurseries or occasionally at a members gardens. We are not a too serious group and learn from each other.
We run a WhatsApp Group to keep in touch.
We have a yearly competition and have become quite a social group. Everyone has ideas and different knowledge which is great as we can all help each other, non of us are experts!
We have visited the RHS Community Gardens, Hyde Hall, Colchester in the past which was very interesting.

Growing in September
YEARLY GROWING COMPETITIONS for the ' Master Crop Growers Trophy '
2024 - We decided to grow for our not too serious competition an Early Cropping Cucumber ' Femspot F1 '
When the time came most of us presented our prize specimens at our monthly meeting. It was unanimously agreed Sandra was our 2024 winner - CONGRATULATIONS SANDRA !
Members had various levels of success this year, for reasons unknown we had a variety of sizes the smallest being 3 inches- well done Carolyn!
2023 - Our competition winner for the best Beetroot grown this year was SALLY who was awarded the Master Crop Growers Trophy!
2021 and 2022 - Seem to have ended up in the compost heap. Anyone remember?
2020 - Sally and Steves Veg were amazing and what about that Leek? It was huge, I’m sure someone said they saw a supermarket receipt next to it!!
We had a stand at the U3A September meeting - (photo above)
A great big thanks to SALLY STEVE and JOHN for sorting out our Slide Show and to RAY HARDISTY for providing the Banners and Flyers.
2019 - We had our 2020 New Year Lunch at the Ship Inn, Tiptree, Alan was the champ with the largest squash - he was awarded the 'Master Crop Growers Trophy’. Sadly Alan has since passed away but he will not be forgotten.
This was the year members were handed seeds, some frozen. The truth came out regarding freezing seeds, at least Butternut Squash seeds, they all failed so lesson learnt! The seeds were taken from Butternut Squashes purchased from a local supermarket and grew very well!
