On December 8th we visited Boreham and Hatfield Peverel churches, both dedicated to St Andrew. At Boreham we were give an informative talk by the church warden and very welcome coffee and biscuits.
Boreham clearly shows its Roman, Saxon and Norman origins and its connection to Beaulieu. The monuments are to three earls of Sussex; the strange animals had there legs chopped off by Cromwells troops!
Hatfield Peverel church was originally attached to an Augustinian priory. It has some wonderful Flemish windows and eccentric pewter ends, including a Princess Leia lookalike.
