Mistley – September 2026

Our September walk was in Mistley, which lies at the start of the Stour Estuary.
A small group met at the village hall and set off across the green into ancient woodland with some magnificent oaks.
Leaving the woods we walked along country tracks and past the dairy.
We entered Mistley with its many historic buildings and then along
the Stour Estuary, passing Mistley Towers, before briefly entering an industrial area.
We returned through a tunnel under the railway and on into farmland and pathways passing an abandoned “Secret Bunker” and back to our cars.
Afterwards we drove to the Church View Café for a welcome lunch.
Our thanks to Sue & Pete for leading such an interesting walk.
