Heybridge Basin - July 2024

Our July walk was led by Anne and Hilary. It was a circular walk from Heybridge Basin of approximately 3 miles long. The first part of the walk was by the canal where we all enjoyed the various boats, birds, fish, and fisherman along the banks.
We briefly crossed through a housing estate then followed the Blackwater Estuary now designated a site of special scientific interest and many species of birds feeding on the mud flats were spotted. It was a beautiful day with clear views over to Maldon and lots of boats out.
On our return lunch was served at the Jolly Sailor in Heybridge, where an excellent lunch was enjoyed by all.
