Greek Wine Tasting - September 2025

Our September meeting showcased Greek wines.

The group tasted six wines paired with Greek meze food.

Our first white was a crisp, refreshing blend of Malagousia, Rodis and Assyros grapes, a favourite with the group.
Second a Lyrarkis Orange wine, a unique style where grapes are fermented with their skins, giving it an amber hue and richer flavour, not so popular with all.
Third an Agapi Rose wine. Floral, fruity with flavours of peach and strawberry, a winner.
Our fourth Xinomavro a medium bodied red wine wih notes of red and black fruits
Number five a Peloponnese red was by far a favourite with a blend of Agiorgitiko and a little Syrah.

Lastly a Liatiko crafted from red Cretan grapes with notes of dark cherry and wild berries.
A very enjoyable and informative afternoon and it was agreed that Greek wine has come a long way.
