Fingringhoe Wick - September 2024

Our September meeting was a revisit to EWT Fingringhoe Wick where we enjoyed an excellent second presentation and guided Hide visit by Liz Huxley, this time on the subject of 'Wader Identification'.

The visit was very much enjoyed and appreciated by all and has provided us with a more solid foundation for our improved bird identification skills during future group visits.

The weather during our visit was warm and sunny and the tide times meant that High Tide had only recently passed before our guided walk began. Although bird sightings were initially slow we were delighted by the speed at which significant numbers of waders began to return to the exposed waters edge as the tide started to recede.

With Liz's help we were able to put into practice some of our new found identification skills as the birds fed at the waters edge or flew across our field of view.

Once again it was a great experience to share some of Liz's extensive knowledge and we look forward to the possibility of further meetings with her in the future.

With thanks to Fred and Jane, the following provides (in no particular order) a brief list of species observed during the visit.
