Fingringhoe Wick - March 2025

For our March meeting a number of us revisited EWT Fingringhoe Wick, with the hope of seeing a good selection of wading birds.

The following picture shows the group just after we had briefly visited the Kingfisher Hide. Unfortunately, no Kingfishers on this particular day!

The weather was cold but dry, and our planned birdwatching opportunities at several of the hides were somewhat thwarted by the state of the tide, which was high by the time we arrived, leaving little exposed mud on which the waders could feed.

However, overall, we were able to see and identify quite a reasonable number of species, as follows.

As always, thanks to Jane for her record keeping.

Cettis Warbler  (heard not seen)
Pheasants (M+F)
Moorhen
Coot
Chiff-Chaff
Pochard
Teal
Shovelers (many M+F)
Great White Egret
Little Egret
Grey Heron
Black Headed Gull
Tufted Ducks
Magpie
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Blackbird
Robin
Mallards

(Unfortunately no other pictures this time.)
