The newly re-formed Birdwatching Group visited Abberton Reservoir on 11th May and was treated to a wide range of ‘sightings’.
Apart from a rain shower towards the end, we were very lucky with the weather and able to visit all 3 hides (as well as the café!). Everyone felt that our first visit was a success and more will now be planned for later in the year.
Thanks to Jane’s excellent record keeping, at least 19 or 20 species were identified by group members during the morning, the real highlight being a Barn Owl hunting along the water’s edge in broad daylight.
Other notable sightings, for those who were lucky enough to see them, included a Reed Bunting, a Kestrel and an Egyptian Goose (spotted from the Causeway).
