Armed with our newly acquired bird identification skills, our reference books and mobile phone apps, we returned to Abberton Reservoir for our May 9 meeting.
It was a glorious sunny day and we were rewarded with some excellent bird sightings and, once again, were able to identify approximately 20 different species during our visit.
On our arrival at the Visitor Centre several of us were delighted to observe a hunting Kestrel and be entertained by the constant sound of Skylarks.
Once everyone had arrived, we took a leisurely stroll around the Nature Discovery Park, stopping at each of the 3 Hides in turn.
As on our previous visit last May, we were lucky enough to see a Barn Owl hunting along the water's edge. Although we were unable to capture any more photographs of the Owl in flight, we did see it in the distance, sitting on top of one of the Owl Nesting Boxes.
