Witham and District (Essex)

Abberton Reservoir - February 2026

Our February visit had originally been planned for EWT Fingringhoe Wick, but due to the recent high levels of rainfall and resulting levels of 'mud underfoot' it was decided to return to EWT Abberton Reservoir on this occasion, where we were also pleased to welcome 3 new members to our group.

(Our visit to Fingringhoe Wick will be rescheduled to take place in the near future.)

The weather was cold but dry, although visibility for birdwatching was not ideal with many of the birds being a challenge to identify at a distance.

However, between us, we were able to record quite a number of species, as listed below.
