Our September walk was in Goldhanger. We met at the Chequers pub and walked down to St Peter’s Church and through the church grounds. Going over an unusual stile we entered farmland tracks walking until we met the sea.
We walked along the sea wall to Joyces Marsh, a conservation area of reclaimed wetland aimed at encouraging wildfowl and wading birds. We were lucky to spot a heron, an egret and other wading birds.
We doubled back to Goldhanger and entered Fish Street with its quaint old houses interspaced with the new.
We returned to the Chequers for an excellent lunch.
Our thanks to Anne and Hilary for leading a super walk.
