Our September walk started from the Wheatsheaf Pub in Hatfield Peveral, The circular walk was about 3 miles
The last time this walk was attempted in March 2023 we had to divert because of flooding, but this time we were able to take the route that we couldn't that day as no flooding was predicted!The walk took us across Maldon Road towards St Andrews Church & Hatfield Priory, then onwards to the Ford at Nounsley. The path can at times be a bit uneven with a few nettles but nothing we couldn’t manage. There was a little bit of road walking down to the Ford and the water level was up due to overnight rain.
From the Ford we turned onto the footpath alongside the River Ter, walking until we came to a small footbridge that took us back up onto Sportsmans Lane. From there we walked back up towards the Cricket Ground and cut through an estate up to and over the Recreation Ground, back of the village hall and onto Maldon Road. Then on to The Wheatsheaf for lunch. Our thanks to Liz & Pat for leading a super walk.
