Our March walk started at Galleywood Heritage Centre in fair weather. We walked over Common land, farmland and village roads taking in some of the heritage of the Common and views of the countryside south of Chelmsford. Galleywood Common formerly a Horse Racing Course is the only course in the country to have three pubs and a Church on its boundaries. It was also a Napoleonic Fort and the original home of the Chelmsford Golf Club. Afterwards we drove to the Rose and Crown on the Green at Writtle for an excellent lunch. Thanks to Heather for putting together such an informative walk.
